NICKELBACK Expected To Win 'Song Of The Year' From Billboard
November 17, 2002NICKELBACK are poised to get "Song Of The Year" award honors from Billboard for the most-played song at radio, according to the Billboard Monitor. "How You Remind Me" has received the most spins at radio and will be receiving the prize. It's not known whether the band will be on hand, or if the award will be televised on The Billboard Awards, which take place Dec. 9 at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas. It will air live on Fox TV.
In other news, NICKELBACK have donated personal items to a charity auction benefiting International Children's Awareness (ICA) Canada. Frontman Chad Kroeger has offered an autographed guitar, while his brother, bassist Mike Kroeger, is donating a cowboy hat he's been known to wear in concert. Drummer Ryan Vikedal will contribute an autographed drum skin and a pair of drumsticks, and lead guitarist Ryan Peake will be parting with a guitar decorated with the Canadian flag. Peake is also offering a golf game in Vancouver to include at least one other member of the band. Other artists donating memorabilia include PAUL MCCARTNEY, GARTH BROOKS, SNOOP DOGG, FILTER, GORILLAZ, and LIFEHOUSE. Bidding begins November 22nd on Ebay Canada.
